American Distance Counseling Association
A Professional Organization For Safe Treatment and Education Through The Internet
We are pleased to announce the formation of American Distance Counseling Association, a national professional association established to promote and support the work of state-licensed behavioral health providers who offer distance counseling services in the United States.
The organization is still in the development stage, and will be adding more information at its web site as it progresses. The association will primarily focus on member-practitioner support needs in the online environment. It will additionally serve as a place for consumers to seek “safe” distance counseling practitioners.
The ADCA aims to enhance dialogue among U.S.-based professionals who face unique regulatory challenges in what is still considered still an experimental treatment modality. ADCA will provide a confidential place for active licensed online caregivers to communicate for mutual support of their efforts.
The ADCA values and supports the International Society for Mental Health Online (ISMHO) and the important leadership role ISMHO continues to provide for international multidisciplinary dialogue. ADCA hopes to work with ISMHO and welcomes qualified practitioner-members to apply for membership in ADCA, which will be less policy oriented and will offer more hands-on support for service provision.
